I also moved out (well, sort of; my parents are helping with money), and it's a million times better than living with my parents (and I definitely get along with them better now).
I've found the same thing; my parents and I have got along much better since I started university. I found when I was growing up they tended to be rather overprotective, so I think having that degree of space between us has helped me become a lot more independent and given me my own space and privacy, and we've become a lot friendlier towards one another as a result
