Thank you for the link! that's a very impressive lineart, I might wanna use that someday. Larksong is a beautiful name. I also try to avoid making characters look too complex. I hope this isn't unwarranted advice, but my recommendation would be to check out 800pluscats on tumblr to see how they go about simplifying complex patterns! imo it's really helped me a lot as an artist. and it's run by the awesome Nifty, who has been kind about answering questions on her deviantART. I hope that helps some!
