whoa! You brought up such interesting points for why certain characters would suit certain things better, I love the interpretations you had for some, like Mapleshade is perfect for pleasure & pain, Onestar for don't change I really like, honestly just about everything I like.
I'm not on my laptop right now but when I do I'll make edits to the list. (: and post my own explanations; it's probably best to post explanations anyway lol. I'm really excited to see what other connections you think up, lightning.
oh and I actually was thinking Strength of Character for Brightheart as well, but at the time thought Bramblestar was a better fit as it was his strength of character that allowed cats to see him as brambleclaw rather than Tigerclaw's son, though I do like Brightheart a bit better and maybe there's another plant better suited for Bramblestar.
For Squirrelflight I never would have thought Mother's Love for her. I chucked her in loyalty as she holds a lot of loyalty to her family and leafpool and stuff of that nature, however I really love mother's love.
The only issue I'd have with it if there was any is that Squirrelflight would be under the new prophecy set and she's not a mother there? unless…should maybe certain characters get two cards? As maybe they were major characters in two different arcs and they developed and changed so much? idk, just a thought. I was planning to just repeat – like squirrelflight's card would be under both the new prohecy and the power of three for example – but she also is really, really different in both arcs due to development
wow I'm rambling now eep v_v
Ramble all you want! It's totally cool, and I'm glad you like what I did! It took me quite a few hours just to come up with those alone- it's a lot of work, but it's totally worth it.
For Squirrelflight, we could always put her under different ones- Squirrelpaw and Squirrelflight are hardly the same cat, in terms of personality and actions. A lot of the characters in the series go through so much change and they're never the same cat they were when they were younger, so having them under different ones makes sense.
And now I bring you more flowers! I can't promise all of the cats will be listed- I'm very tired and I might expand on this one once I've gotten more sleep.
21. mullein // healing —
–Mudfur
–Mudfur says in Crookedstar's Promise that he no longer wants to unsheath his claws and fight- he wants to heal cats. Given that he was one of RiverClan's best and strongest warriors, that must have been a rough thing for Hailstar to deal with. He gave up the path of a warrior (and I wouldn't have been shocked if he would have become deputy) to heal his Clanmates, and he's one of my favorite medicine cats.
22. lemon blossom // discretion —
–Tall Shadow/Shadow
–Shadow is a perfect example of this, honestly. She shows this mainly in The Blazing Star and A Forest Divided. Although she is a leader of her group, she gives all cats the choice to live wherever they please, whether it be with Thunder, Clear Sky, herself, or even going to find Wind Runner's group, and doesn't hold it against them. The cats put in her care are given the choice to follow their hearts, and she understands when Gray Wing leaves and doesn't get bitter with him for it.
-Leafstar
–I also think Leafstar would be a good cat for this flower. A prime reason would be her choice to allow daylight warriors, and whether or not they chose to become full-time warriors (like Billystorm) or leave (like Snooky/Snookthorn). She does not show contempt nor hatred at whatever the choices are, and allows her warriors to live how they please, even if it's with a paw in two worlds.
23. black rose // obsession —
–Ashfur
–I don't actually need to say anything for this, do I?
24. hellebore // bitter memories —
–Jagged Peak
–Jagged Peak, even in A Forest Divided, is bitter towards Clear Sky (to a point), about the incident that happened in The Sun Trail. Cast out by his own brother because of an accident (which Jagged Peak himself was responsible for anyways) that maimed him, Jagged Peak could never fully forgive his brother for casting him aside, but accepting his son, Thunder.
25. hotensia // cold-hearted —
–Tallstar
–Before I get shot, let me explain myself. This, like Onestar, is more of an irony thing than it is actually describing the character we know and love. During Tallstar's Revenge, we saw a much different side of Tallstar- he was colder, bitter, and much different. After Sandgorse's death, Talltail wanted nothing more than to take Sparrow's life- this is shown by the fact that he basically stalked and almost murdered Sparrow in cold blood. He blamed Sparrow for Sandgorse's death, calling the other cat a coward and all sorts of names. The only thing that even stopped Talltail from doing it was the fact that Sparrow said that Sandgorse had chosen to risk his own life to save him. Many people only know Tallstar as the peaceful leader who doesn't want to battle, but his super edition shows us that even the most peaceful leaders can be cold-hearted in their past.
26. hollyhock // ambition —
–Clear Sky
–Initially shown in The Sun Trail, built up in Thunder Rising, and coming to a climax in The First Battle, Clear Sky is shown as an extremely ambitious cat- wanting more and more prey and territory for the cats in his care. His actions border on downright abusive and manipulative, and he is the direct cause of the death of multiple characters. I honestly hope he's able to fully redeem himself come Path of Stars. Ambition isn't necessarily a bad thing… if it's turned into something good.
–Thistleclaw
–I shouldn't need to say anything on this, either. We all know why Thistleclaw is here.
27. zephyr // waiting —
–Half Moon/Stoneteller
–It's said that Half Moon (after meeting Jayfeather/Jay's Wing) never took a mate or had kits. She fell in love once, and that was enough for her. She waited until her death to be reunited with Jayfeather again, and has to wait even longer until Jayfeather passes on and goes to join StarClan- she vows to wait for him forever, as shown in Sign of the Moon.
