  We've got a thread like this on another forum I'm on and it's pretty popular.
  This is a thread where you can just talk about all the things you did today, or a particular thing that's real interesting.
  
  So I'll start. Here's two interesting things that happened me today:
  
  – I managed to lock myself out of my running car at the library.
  I was turning in some stuff at the after-hours deposit and just left it running 'cause it would take all of ten seconds, and on my way out, locked it out of habit. I did happen to put my clicker in my pocket – another habit, which I do whenever I leave my keys in the car just in case I, y'know, lock myself out – but when I tried to unlock it I discovered that it does not work while the car is running. I ended up having to get my spare key out of a magnetic box on the underside of the car, hidden just for situations like that.
  
  – I also realized belatedly (because my phone was off and I didn't check my voicemails till midnight) that I'd won a basket from the basket raffle at the church picnic I went to.
  It comes with like a serving tray and napkin holders or something like that, two bottles of wine, and a gift certificate to a spa (which I'm excited about – never been to one). (Possibly a restaurant gift card too, not sure about that, but I'm quite happy even without that. It's worth far more than I spent on tickets.)

  At a coffee shop this morning I manages to portmanteau “latte” and “medium” into the newspeak masterpiece, “lardium”. ~~You probably had to be there but I couldn't recover and ended up dying of embarrassment before re-attempting to order~~
  
  I'll try and be more interesting… around this time last year I did and noticed little stuff all the time.

  haven't done much today but yesterday me n my friend hung out with a couple friends we met at a con and the four of us got bubble tea, mcdonalds, went to a bunch of places and then went to see howl's moving castle at the cinema and it was all in all a great day!

  Today I got up super early to get blood work done, which was not fun. Although it was kinda funny to see my boyfriend freak out at the sight of it. We went back to my house and fell asleep, then once we woke up I took him out to lunch to celebrate his first movie audition, which was much more enjoyable.
  
  I plan to just nap some more and watch Netflix for the rest of the day…

  Today after I got out of work a friend came by to pick up something and we spent two hours sitting on my floor talking about life and petting my cats, hahaha. Also at work I found out that my coworker is leaving, so I'm the only one left. Just me and my boss until the school year starts up again! That means more hours and money for me

  After work, I drove to the oceanfront with my sister and we walked up and down the beach and got feet wet. The water feels so good right now. I wish I lived within walking distance because I'd be there all the time, but I guess 15-20min drive isn't too bad.

  so today i was messing around w/ my audio to try to make it play on speakers, but i accidentally disables my headphone audio. whoops.. so then it didnt play at all, and i was told to uninstall my audio, and so i did. i restarted my computer and i found that it worked again!! only thing is, it reset the bass boost but i got it back 8'D

  Today I saw Minions in the theater. It's cute, silly, and a good movie.
  
  I also discovered that my Tracfone that I've had for 7 years is literally becoming so old that I HAVE to replace it – it was giving me an error saying “system unavailable” when trying to add my airtime minutes and I had to contact Support; had to do that last time too. When I was chatting with them they were like “Make sure you text this code to Tracfone to make sure your phone is up-to-date” and I was like, “That's for newer phones, isn't it? 'Cause mine is 7 years old.” And they said that yes, that's why I was having that trouble then.
  
  So I've got 3 months left on my airtime and I'm trying to find a new phone. I was thinking of doing another Tracfone but the problem with that is that they don't allow you to call when you're overseas, it works only in the US. And I want a phone when I travel to Ireland next summer, so yeah.

  So I've got 3 months left on my airtime and I'm trying to find a new phone. I was thinking of doing another Tracfone but the problem with that is that they don't allow you to call when you're overseas, it works only in the US. And I want a phone when I travel to Ireland next summer, so yeah.
  
  (slams fist down) i have BECOME phone research over the past two weeks
  okay well maybe that's a little dramatic, but.
  
  as someone who had tracfone for most of her life and is still on a subsidiary of tracfone (straight talk), I feel like I knew nothing about phones until pretty recently, as i'm looking into getting a new one myself. Tracfone/etc have a “bring your own phone” program where if you can get an unlocked phone (amazon, best buy, etc; some even as cheap as like $50, though I dunno how much power you might want), you can buy a pretty cheap sim card and stick it in there. Also, there are phones that have dual-sim slots, so in one slot you could have a tracfone sim, and in another you could stick some kind of international sim from someplace else (I haven't looked much into what options like those might be though). bam, a phone with cheap service for home AND an overseas plan!!
  
  this might actually be common knowledge but I only learned it like last week lmao
  
  edit: i just realized i didn't say anything about what happened to me today
  today I asked my aunt if I could look at her phone which is a 4.7″ screen and it seems like a nice-sized screen. but the phone with specs I want and the price I want is like 5.5″ and I don't think I could handle that. i cry

  I slept 12 hours for the fifth time in the past two weeks…and I seriously don't get why. I've also “watched” Rainbow Rocks about five different times, because I'm too lazy and don't have the spoons to change the DVD.

  Work was really busy today as we had a summer fair on. I ended up buying two jars of chutney and a mug from it
  
  It was a bit awkward at first as they put me on the lucky dip and I'm the worst of us at talking to children (I don't understand how to do the “overenthusiastic about everything” voice that all my colleagues do around children) but luckily I was able to swap with someone after a while
  
  Also, a jeweller from whom I once bought a little bird necklace was there, so it was nice to have a chat with her

  Today's been really nice! Spent most of it playing pokemon, and I've finally crossed the 700-caught mark! Less than 20 to go. This has been so much fun and I'm so glad I decided to do this.
  
  Also I've gotten a lot of notes written down for some fics, and it feels great! I'm pretty confident in what I've been coming up with recently, and I'm really excited to start writing again.

  We had a really grumpy customer in today who refused to accept that a display copy of a calendar wasn't for sale because it didn't have a sticker on it saying “display copy” like the other display copy of the other calendar did. It didn't have a barcode or price on it nor was it one of the many till buttons but she still insisted it must be for sale and demanded to know what the price was. I checked the website of the artist who'd designed the calendar which said £12 but I pointed out that it'd probably be a different price due to the artist having to pay commission, and suggested she go to the artist's gallery if she wanted a copy of the calendar, but she wouldn't do that and insisted on having it from the visitor centre, and when I pointed out that someone might've just forgotten to put a “display copy” sticker on it she said, “Well that's not my fault, is it?” I never even insinuated it might be her fault -_- Ughhhh. People like that are exhausting

  I accidentally made tea and coffee for five people today.
  
  They were having a meeting in the Discovery Room and the main lady who was organising it came out to ask me whether they could have three coffees and two teas, so I assumed she wanted me to make them, and I went and made them all in the staff room and brought them out. Turns out they wanted them from the cafe (which is in the same building as us, but run by a separate company, so I got confused)

  I left my apartment for work today and it was sunny out. As I drove to work, it started getting cloudy. Then it started to sprinkle. As this was happening, I was agreeing with the weather, I was crying internally that I was going to work also. And then the sprinkles stopped. Once I pulled into the parking lot though, the clouds broke open and it started down pouring. on me.

  I learned today that I start my new position at work tomorrow. So today was spent just wrapping stuff up and saying goodbye to my team and friends in the building, who all were quite shocked since I had to keep it private until everything was finalized. And also hitting Goodwill and Walmart after work in the hopes of finding dressy clothes to wear for the different dress code in the other building.

  the thing is it says the contents on the packaging and it's definitely something i WOULD order so like… goddamn did i just spoil myself for one of my birthday presents?? there's also the possibility that i DID order it and completely forgot about it but that doesn't usually happen esp with something like this

  Had to deal with a nightmare of a customer today >.< For some context, Pembrokeshire is a small county that's incredibly popular with tourists, to the point that its population actually triples during the summer. Naturally, this means that B&Bs, hotels, cottages, etc. fill up quickly. Had someone in today who had clearly done no research or preparation for her visit, and couldn't seem to understand why I was unable to find her a week's worth of self-catering accommodation with a private kitchen (due to her “allergies”) for £150 a week in the middle of August in an area whose tourist population outnumbers its residential population twofold during that time. When I pointed out to her that in an area like this, you really have to plan ahead if you're wanting to stay somewhere for more than just a night or two, she said, “I don't have the kind of lifestyle where I plan ahead for things”. I spent an hour and a half trying to help her find somewhere to stay, and even when I found somewhere that met all of her requirements (apart from cost; it was £352, but still much cheaper than everywhere else) it wasn't good enough for her. She would've probably stayed longer had we not been closing. To all the prospective tourists out there: this is why you book ahead and actually do some bloody research rather than just turning up assuming everything will be there laid out perfectly for you. Especially if you have particular needs that have to be catered for in wherever you're staying -_-

  But I did discover that chewing on my bracelets calms her down significantly, so I let her chew them away while I washed her.

  Today the swayer bar on my car broke and started rubbing against the axle – I was just getting home and turning around on the street and it started making a horrible squealing noise. My dad came all the way down here and checked it out, managed to move it so that I didn't have to get towed. I'll have to get it repaired as soon as possible – the “fix” is only good enough to get it to a garage.
  
  Of course it would happen while my bike is at the shop being repaired too…

  today I made 2 eggies in a basket (the toast with the fried egg in the middle)
  
  one was delicious
  the other was for the nightshade challenge… but I didn't have any black food coloring…
  I tried using soy sauce but it just turned golden brown when cooked and was not very delicious
  
  so I ate a gross soy sauce egg for nothing

  Today I got to help my datefriend transfer their pokemon to my game while they restarted (i will Keep Them Safe), then I went to an art show with my grandma (who bought me some ice cream afterwards!) and had my sister update my computer to Win10 (which imo is what Win8 should have been!!!!!! no one needed that extra screen before you can get to your desktop!!!!! honestly!!!!).

  personally i've been pretty okay with windows 8… the start menu being different hardly affects me. i never have to use it.
  
  the only other thing is no more solitaire or minesweeper ): ): ): and not being able to download apps and things if you use a local account. but honestly i forgot about that after the first few weeks. everything that i use my computer for isn't much different than windows 7.
  
  i imagine i'll probably update to windows 10 eventually but i'm gonna look into it more first so i know what the deal is gonna be.

  this morning i got up super early to do a guild battle in tales of asteria (and i mean it was at 7am, but i had stress dreams about it all night so i barely slept and didn't even need my alarm)

  I woke up with one of my aunt's cats on my bed (I'm staying at her house for a bit). She really wanted me to pet her. And she wanted to play too. She started to play with the cord for my laptop until I pushed her away. She got the hint. Then I stepped out of the room. Less than a minute later, she started to play with the earbuds. I immediately shoved them into my pocket when I came back. Luckily, she didn't chew on them.
  
  During the day, my family and I went out to museum about weapons throughout history and then we went to a park that had fantastic views of the Mississippi River. I would have been able to appreciate the museum and park more if I didn't have such a headache.

  Went out to the beach with my friends. Swam out pretty far on my own, thick fog came in very suddenly (too thick to see shore) and a harbor seal popped up very close to me and stared at me for a bit (rather frightening) given how it's a huge predator but it went on its merry way not long after. All this happened while there were dozens of sea slaters on me.

  I started my second semester of college!!
  Woke up super early to the sound of my roommate getting ready for her 8am
  got super anxious and started walking to my class at like 11:00am and arrived at the building at like 11:20am
  but my class wasn't until like 1pm so I was just like… trying to find ways to pass the time
  I got up and did a lap around the east side of campus, and by the time I got back it was still only like 11:30am
  
  so I just grabbed a chair and waited the remaining time… cue this douchebag that I have the very awful displeasure of having met who apparently knows me by name now… he leaves after assessing that I'm playing pokemon shuffle. Apparently immediately after he leaves the building he runs into Corgi friend.
  
  I have to do a 2 point perspective drawing in Drawing II soon… from life… no rulers… kill me ded now
  
  walked over to my next class, Design II, which I apparently share with that one chick that barks at me and requests ear scratches. Nice.
  Anyways i have to make like 1 tiny sculpture from found objects a day based on a theme so I've chosen to make dolls out of random scraps.
  It just makes sense to me because like… no matter where you go there's somebody that makes small human-likeness companions out of whatever they have available… so… yeah…
  
  it wasn't completely a random choice… although the materials that I grab to make these will probably be completely random
  
  Also Frosty & I went to eat at the cafeteria and Corgi friend saw us and ate with us… although it was sort of awkward…
  I feel like every interaction with him has been really awkward lately…
  in the way of it almost feels fake… like he's trying to be a friend without actually having like… interest in anything I say or she says… buuuut I'll probably babble about it on confessions instead because it's like… so complicated… or at least I'm hoping it's complicated…

  Been busy at work for once. We had a fire drill so that kind of interrupted things. Flirted with my crush a bit. Only just at lunch, but the day's almost over and then it shall be the weekend.   Going to make a “what happened to me today and yesterday” post if that's okay
  
  Went for an eight-mile walk between Musselwick and Dale yesterday, via Martin's Haven and Marloes Sands. Managed to do it in about three and a half hours, which was a lot quicker than I thought it'd be (that included a short lunch break), and even had time to stop for a pint before our bus arrived Admittedly I'd planned for a coffee rather than a pint but the yacht club at Dale happened to be selling my favourite cider that I can hardly ever find xD
  
  Also saw my first ever merlin (adorably tiny falcon), as well as a seal, some meadow pipits, a stonechat, and numerous ravens. I'll probably make a thread of all the photos I took of the scenery, as it was a gorgeous day so I made sure to take plenty
  
  Went back to my friend's house after that for food and whisky, and met his girlfriend (who loves cats and tea as much as I do), before going to Pembroke Dock to stay over with a friend/crush of mine who has five cats, including two new kittens who were really cuddly and playful Had a little movie night thingy, and many cuddles were had (and that's where it stops being safe for work, so I'll be quiet now)

  I have to get to my street by taking a really sharp turn so I completely relate to this :c
  People don't slow down as I do, and even if I make the turn at 30mph to avoid an accident, they'll still honk and flip me off JUST FOR TURNING. And I always put my blinker on with plenty of time and everything.
  Other drivers just generally suck it seems, I'm sorry you had to go through that today /:

  Anyway, I went to the bank and opened a retirement account. Figure while I have no bills right now, I should save some of it up for later. Also saving the rest of it for a big trip (most likely a solo one -my first of those – since I have no friends); was thinking of either a west coast road trip or going to Europe again (London, Paris (also maybe Lille), Brussels (maybe), and Amsterdam).
  
  Then went to Trader Joe's for the first time ever, we just got one not too long ago. I grabbed some dough (should have grabbed some sauce as well) and I'm gonna try making a pizza tomorrow. I used to make pizza a lot with my family but it's been YEARS.
  
  I finished reading both of my books. The first one… not so good. The second one was Tallstar's Revenge and I didn't like it as much as I remembered liking it. Just seemed to drag out a bit too much.
  
  Also finished playing my first Pokemon Mystery dungeon game. I really liked it, but it felt like I was rushed to complete the story, but that also could have been because I didn't really know how to do everything (still don't). I think I'm probably gonna get the new game when it comes out though.

  This week my laptop died – the hard drive did, at least.
  
  It started as a Windows update that was forced upon me, and then it wouldn't boot up after, and system restore from the “recovery options” menu when booting failed. I was thinking of trying to restore it to factory settings, then realized that it had been much longer than I'd thought since I last backed everything up, and that I had some things I didn't want to lose – such as my most recent copy of my resume.
  
  My cousin was able to get it hooked up to his computer and copy everything I'd wanted to save, and then the idea was to maybe try and format it and reinstall the operating system. He said that it wasn't able to connect anymore to be able to do a format, so that's out. I might just buy a new hard drive. But he did say that it's overheating, which might cause problems… so I dunno. I'm still saving up for my Ireland trip in May, and I still want to buy a good camera before the trip too.

  I went to a baseball game today. That lifted my mood after receiving news from the doctor. I was more or less in it for the food that I got before the game since I'm not a huge sports fan. But it was a pretty nice game. It kept my attention.
  
  The team won their final game at home 8-1. There was an inning with four runs. From what I heard, if only the southern teams weren't so strong this season, they could have made the playoffs.
  
  I got a souvenir cup thanks to my brother. It'll probably come in handy sometime.

  I think today was the first time I've been to the city (or out of town at all) since may… at the mall I considered buying a bunch of stuff and then didn't. probably for the best considering the price of BUYING A TV (look there's luke/tear on it already. nice)
  
  while we were setting up the hammock chair one of the metal bars fell on me and hit my thumb and I had to keep it pressed against my icy water bottle for almost the entire two-hour drive home :') but it barely even looks bruised now, and considering that the bar fell from over my head I'm probably lucky my hand was all it hit…
  
  dad was driving at or slightly above the speed limit most of the time we were on the highway (it's one lane each way) and yet three different people felt the need to pull into the other lane to pass him. at 70 mph, in the dark, in the woods. smh

  Yesterday I went to a party for a girl who goes to my high school. The first five minutes were great because me, boyfriend, and our friend were treated like gods since we're “officially adults” now, but after that it just turned into a bunch of white girls jumping up and down and calling it dancing, so we left a little early and went to Burger King. We spent the rest of the night talking about superheroes; it was fantastic.
  
  Today I got a $45 55 gallon fish tank for my baby turtle and studied for an upcoming bio test.
  
  So this long weekend has been pretty good!

  sooo i'll just go over the whole weekend (which started on friday for me) since i haven't posted in this thread for a while!
  
  friday was really nice, spent most of the day inside, did some drawing, watched lots of bob ross videos. very quiet. i also cleaned the whole dorm and it was actually really relaxing (i almost said fun, but… not quite)
  
  saturday, i slept in till about noon and it was fantastic. did some grocery shopping. ended up my first College Party (which wasn't so much a party as like six friends hanging out in an apt having wine and cheese and eventually pizza) and it was really fun. i don't think anyone even got drunk but we just played card games for like six hours, it was really fun. got back from that at about two, went to sleep at around three thirty am.
  
  sunday was really low-key. spent almost all day doing work stuff. marathoned some ghost adventures, watched a lot of bob ross. that was about it.
  
  today i slept in super late, and spent about two hours at my favorite lunch place drawing in my sketchbook and coasting on free soda refills. i think i'm going to start playing majora's mask? i've been in a really artistic mood today and it's been really nice.

  I was trying to go to the aquarium today but it's like $20 admission for adults and parking. Definitely not driving downtown and not know where I'm going and pay a lot of money for one outing.
  But my boyfriend surprised me today with his new car. (The old one was a junker; it would die when you slowed down or parked and started over-heating and spewing white smoke)
  He calls me up saying he was coming to pick up the key to the apartment because he lost his key and somebody else was giving him a ride over. I walk outside and he rolls up in a 2011 Nissan Altima. I'm so happy, like now he can get to work safely and make long commutes and we don't have to worry about cops pulling us over for expired tags like on the old car. And now we can go on dates, so that's a plus.

  Today I accidentally side-swept a parked car after an idiot going over 30MPH in a parking garage (while rounding a turn, mind you) almost rammed into me. I had a meeting with my adviser right after that, so I cried on the way there because I was so freaked out about the accident, and I felt so bad that I couldn't leave a note… But their car was over twice the size of mine and I had only a tiny ding in my door, so I'm hoping their car is okay too… If someone reports it I'll step forward, obviously.

  my dad came and took me to dinner and to get a few things (peanut butter. fruit snacks) and i FINALLY got to send my sister's 3ds back home (my daily animal crossing time has now been one-thirded yesss) and hopefully tonight i will get to play graces
  
  also we were stopped on the entrance to the freeway for several minutes (why) and there was a cat. sitting on a porch. then it got up and went to sit on a couch in the yard (i could only see the top of its head) and then OF COURSE it got up and started to wander around the yard as soon as we started moving bye cat. it was medium-gray with a white muzzle and legs. adorable. 10/10

  I had to go to this odds and ends craft store so I hitched a ride with Furry Friend
  they sell like everything you could possibly think to craft with for pretty cheap so I like stocked up on some stuff
  
  including a map that I just picked out of the box without looking at it that happens to have my hometown/home street on it… ~~might clip that out and make jewelry out of it or something we'll see~~, some white fabric for dummy-making purposes in Design 2, elastic for the same project, two small belt buckles (project related also), some sculpey clay, a wine topper (both of those for doll-a-day shenanigans), and a bunch of embroidery thread for the design project that I just realized I do not have sewing needles for
  
  we also hung out at Em's (the furry friend) and I talked to her roommates (she has 3)
  Em got really frustrated about my puns and one of her roommates started making like 5 and Em threatened to stab her eyes out and then poked her eye with a fork
  so uh
  yeah I don't talk much around Em
  
  Her boyfriend and also this dude named Carson that I always saw in the lobby of my dorm last semester also stopped by… finally got to talk to that dude it was chill
  
  although he was more preoccupied with flirting with one of her roommates so I didn't get to be very friendly over all
  
  We did run to Braum's for ice cream which was great, fantastic, and honestly everything I wanted out of today o/
  
  also got to pet a dog and cat, and that's always nice

  when I was walking home today there was a couple ahead of me and their toddler was running around in the street pointing at everything, so I had to take a detour to avoid the kid approaching me
  
  but it was a good thing because on that side street there was an adorable calico cat that DIDN'T EVEN RUN FROM ME
  I wanted to pet it but it was on the curb in front of a house and I was afraid someone would look out the window and think I was stealing it

  A lot of negative stuff has happened today but I want to try and look at the positive stuff.
  
  Gas prices are $2.05 right now which translates into less credit charged onto my credit card.
  I cleaned my car of trash and vacuumed it and I'll probably clean the carpets and seats tomorrow, so my car is gonna be fixed up on the inside and cleaned.
  I hung out with my friends Taylor and Andy and we figured out a way for me to make a little extra cash for the end of this month which I'm hoping will work.

  It's a rather infamous trail, actually. Zombie Road. Idk if you Google it you get a lot of paranormal sites raving about it and news articles pushing to kill the myth, but I have no strong drive to wander that creepy ass path at night and deviate off the road, and test the rumor that if you do that, you'll never be heard from again… I just drove by it and it felt… bad. The forest looks unnatural. It has a weird reddish glow. The plant life around it looks like it's dying. Lemme tell you friend it was not a good time for me ;___;

  Today I turned off my alarm in my sleep, and luckily only woke up 48 minutes late lol. I got ready in five minutes and then drove to my campus for a meeting at 10, but since I managed to get there at 9:45 they saw me then. After that I waited three hours in the same seat for my math class to start, and now I'm sitting outside waiting for my next class to start.

  During my lunch break I made ramen and was pouring out some excess water into the sink, dropped the bowl, and managed to spill out all the noodles and shatter a glass. So I had to clean all that up and make something different.
  
  And then I was just about to leave the building and realized that my car/apartment/work keys were not in my pocket, but locked in my room.
  
  The building manager was not able to get their spare key for my room because the maintenance guy was painting my balcony today and still had it and he was nowhere to be seen at the time. Then I remembered that I have a spare key to my room in my car, and a spare key to my car in a magnet box on the underside of it, so I was able to get in. I was almost afraid to drive to work in case my bad luck continued!

  Decided that I am never making Chef Boyardee ravioli again.
  
  I decided to cook it for dinner because I had an extra can lying around, and I figured, hey, this'll be an easy meal, right? Wrong.
  Tried to open the can, and the tab on the lid broke off. Tried using a can opener, but the can opener broke. So I got the bright idea to push the lid in… and it just exploded. Sauce everywhere. All over my clothes, on the floor, all over the stove, everywhere. And after I finally got it all cleaned up, I had a hard time getting the lid out of the can. It didn't even really taste good in the end.

  So I noticed a pattern with the gas prices around here lately, and it always starts around $2.29/gal, then within 6 days dips down under $2/gal during the night, then goes back up about $.30 by morning. So last week I predicted by Thursday night, gas would be under $2/gal, and this afternoon it was $2.03/gal, but I stopped by the nearby gas station 15 minutes ago, and $25 later I have over 12.5 gallons in my car — along with what was left before — and for the first time in AGES I filled my gas tank myself past the full line. I feel a little more independent again and successful.

  Besides doing some trombone practice for Sunday and picking up a snack at the store, I went to the library, returned a few items, and got out Path of Stars along with a book on Japanese verbs.
  
  The library had the reprinted of The Sight and I decided to take a look at it. I have read Mapleshade's Vengeance and Goosefeather's Curse and have seen the new map design of the forest territories, so I was wondering what the new design of the lake territories looked like. The maps are so different now, but they still look pretty nice.
  
  If only I could own some reprinted copies myself. Too bad I already own the first and third arc, plus half of the second. It would look weird if I fill the gaps in the second arc with the reprinted books.

We've been getting better at understanding each other, and though it makes me happy because yay less fighting and less tension between us (we both have a set of psychological disorders that make us clash sometimes but we both know we're not mean people and we actually get along pretty well most of the time), it's also like… I wish we'd been at this point when we dated and maybe we would've worked out… But now she's engaged so it's like //
  
  In other news, I still have a screwed up sleeping schedule, but a full tank of gas, and I stayed home all day today. It was a lazy Friday.

They had their music as loud as mine, and I could feel them staring at me. When the light turned green, they sped past me, and the guy on the driver's side gave a condescending wave.   Short version: I haven't slept for 40 hours and I drove around a lot, worked at a haunted house for the first time, got lost in the ghetto, and almost got into a car crash (not my fault, surprisingly).
  
  Uhm… well. I haven't slept since about noon of Friday, and it's currently 4am Sunday. Cassie's mum needed me to help them run errands because the company that they're renting^? from towed her car at 2am for a late payment, even though there was no paperwork sent, no notice, nothing (she also offered me $20, which I assumed was for gas). I ended up driving to their place at 9am, and drove them to the post office, then driving Cassie to the bank, three different UPS stores, and then getting lost trying to find the TitleMax place (aka dbags who screwed them over). During all this, my friend Kayla texted me letting me know that the haunted house she works at — The Darkness — actually needed a photographer for a thing in line, and she'd let me know if I could help, and if I could, to let her know when.
  
  Once we finally got the errands done, I drove her to her townhouse, and then we realized her mum had left and locked the door, and she never grabbed a key. So we had to drive back to her mum's work, get the key, and drive her back home again. I ended up basically using all my gas, and by the time I was done, it was about 3pm, so I needed to go to my friend Andy's house to drive him to a survey place for an 8 day hard cider study.
  
  I ended up driving him to and back, put $20 down on gas, and when I'd gotten home, it was around 5pm, and I got confirmation that hey, The Darkness actually did need me, and Kayla asked if I could be there by 8:30. I was like, yeah, sure, I can make it, but if I asked my parents, I knew they'd say no, because it was until midnight… so I decided to lay down and rest a bit, and set an alarm because at 6pm I needed to leave to drive my friend Taylor to do the same survey Andy had earlier (they're at different times because they recently fought). I think I slept 15 minutes, then woke up, drove Tay to and back, and dropped him off around 7:30pm. I then headed towards The Darkness and got there around 8:15pm.
  
  I spent half an hour trying to find parking before I pulled up next to paid parking and was like “bruh, idk what to do, like… I kind of work here in a way? I'm here to take pictures and stuff but I didn't get much detail…” Thankfully, he didn't question me and let me in without having to pay, and after circling the tiny lot three or four times, I concluded parking on the yellow stripped out boxes were the only way, since other cars had done it too. After parking, I asked the parking lot guy what to do, because Kayla wasn't answering her texts quickly (she works as one of the 'monsters' in the place, so it was understandable why), and he told me to go up to the hearse and I'd probably get help. So, I made my way up to the area, and awkwardly stood by the Creepyworld Hearse for a good five minutes before asking a woman taking down a tent what I should do. She pointed me to the ticket booths, and so I went up and told them who I was, who sent me, and what I was supposed to do.
  
  Past that it was pretty simple — with an iPad and an app they had, I'd take pictures of the people waiting in line with some of the dressed up actors and actresses, and send it to them via text or email. I was essentially selling free photo souvenirs. Being sleep deprived and having hit the point of tired where I was full of energy, it was actually a lot of fun. I had the overall anxiety, but that was less my social anxiety, and more so due to the approaching curfew and the excuse text I'd need to send my mum to cover up being late — I knew if I'd told her “I'm working at The Darkness right now, be home late”, she'd have an aneurysm, because it's in the city. My parents grew up in small, rural towns; the city terrifies them. It fascinates but intimidates me, however, I don't let the intimidation limit my travel. So I coined my “I had to drive Kayla home and got stuck in bad construction” excuse, because, well… you will never drive a highway in St. Louis and not go through construction.
  
  The main actress that stuck around last night by the name of “Clara” was super nice, and we talked a lot while I tried to get people to take pictures. I ended up talking to a lot of people from all over the country, of different gender identities and sexualities, and it was really cool; I started realizing that, whoa, I'm actually kind of working at an attraction that's known around the nation. Some people were rude to Clara, which was upsetting since she was nice, but she essentially gave them a taste of their medicine, and was hilarious in doing so. At one point however, probably around 11pm, two men began to argue.
  
  They were both dads, and the first one accused the second one's family of shoving him. At first it seemed like a small bicker, but then they actually began to shout, and were threatening to physically fight. Clara and the other actors had gone to get a drink, so I was alone, and absolutely terrified; I have never dealt with breaking up a fight before, and these men were a good food and a half taller, had more muscle, and were close to twice my age. I ended up saying something along the lines of “hey, c'mon, you need to break it up, or you're both getting kicked out”, but they didn't really listen to me, and it started to escalate… their wives were both trying to hold them back and defend their husbands, and I tried to shout but they just wouldn't listen. That's when a security officer found his way over and put a stop to it. I had started to have a mild anxiety attack, but I guess I was so tired my brain couldn't function enough to push it, so I was just shaky and nervous for a bit until Clara came back.
  
  The rest of the night went smoothly, and most people were nice, and the actors and actresses were very friendly the whole time (when they weren't startling / scaring the guests with pyrotechnics and of the sort). I apologized a lot to them — mainly Clara since she dealt with me the most that night — since I had literally never done this before and had next to no idea what I was doing / getting myself into. They were all very friendly and nice the whole time though, so I felt a lot less out of place than I thought I originally would. By the end of the night, I turned in the iPad, was paid $40, and headed out about 12:30 in the morning. That's when things kind of… got out of hand.
  
  A tired but satisfied me headed out to the parking lot, praying my car wasn't towed. Thanking god when she was still there, I climbed in and started driving towards the exit, intent on getting home before too long. Being half alive though, I forgot to look up directions, and so I took the exit ramp right next to The Darkness — that wouldn't hurt, right? Well. I got a taste of my parents' “city panic” real quick. Trying to figure out where I was going, I tried to read the signs — I-64 East. Once again, being brain dead, it didn't really register that was bad until I started looking up directions in my GPS, and realized I was headed north. For anyone who doesn't know… north St. Louis is just a pure danger zone dart board. Some spots are fine. Others… not so much.
  
  So I turned off on a road, hoping to turn around and start heading back on the highway, right? Well, as I got off the exit, I realized the road was… kind of… desolate. And the buildings were kind of dilapidated and not very welcoming. My panic started to set in. I was an animal out of it's habitat. I was in territory I did not belong in. Turning onto a bridge, figuring hey, this usually is a U-turn back to the highway, in the opposite direction, I followed the road. But as I went, it got thinner, and less lit, and the buildings were more spaced out and less inviting than before. And I knew in my gut something was wrong.
  
  Continuing to drive, I ended up near strange warehouse-like building, with the road being either a dead end, or a turn into a dark alleyway. This was when my brain went from “What the hell, directions? Help me” to “Nopenopenopenopenopenope”. U-turning in the middle of the road — which was completely empty, I start driving quickly in the opposite direction, when “do not enter” and “wrong way” signs show themselves in this direction. I could feel my body trembling, and I swear my heartbeat was louder than any gunshot. I just burst into tears and started crying and screaming, I had been damned. Figuring the area was already lawless, I drove anyways, literally driving the opposite was the road was intended for, until there was a street I could turn onto, and then did so. I looked up directions again, eyed every sign closely, and began turning wildly, until I miraculously landed myself on the right direction to I-64, west.
  
  West, where the county is, where the spoiled brats are, where the soccer moms flock and kids think they're hardcore because they smoked weed once. I came to the conclusion that, in the face of a fist fight, I'm tough. I'll fight. I'm up for it. But guns? I'm terrified. Bullets can fly from no where. One minute I could be alive, the next, dead. And my family had no idea where I actually was. I floored it. I drove down that highway and never got under 75 mph for 20 minutes, until I was in an area familiar enough to me that it didn't seem menacing. I still felt a lump in my throat. My breaths still quavered with each draw and release. I had clenched my steering wheel so tight that my fingers hurt to move into any other position. I just wanted to get home. I wanted to sleep.
  
  Returning to a normal and legal speed, I drove towards my house, ready to be home. I was safe now, and I faced no more dangers, I thought. The whole drive home was empty roads, and I think I saw less than 50 cars on the road the whole drive home. So as I passed the last light before my house, I let my foot off the brake and began to accelerate. That's when, apparently, the guy next to me realized he needed to go to the gas station. Swerving (and putting on his blinker as he did so, like it was excusable if his blinker was on), he turns right in front of me, while I'm going about 40 mph. I slammed on my brakes, my tires skidding and grabbing furiously at the pavement; I could hear it, feel it. The van behind Mr. Swerve honked at him, and as he pulled into the gas station and I started to drive, the van driver and I exchanged a look of “what the actual fuck”.
  
  Frustrated and tired, and I didn't even want to deal with it; with the reality of “you could've been seriously injured / killed” screaming in my face, I finally made it home, parking my car and heading inside, feeling dizzy, and body still quaking from my misadventure, to the accident-that-almost-was-but-Blake-has-great-breaks being added on.
  
  The most relaxing part of the day was the haunted house, and the most stressful was what was supposed to be a smooth ride home. I feel that this is just a huge, cruel lesson on irony…

  the funny thing is, I had actually just stopped at a park five minutes earlier to stretch because I'd been driving most of the day, and then when I got back on the road it was raining and I didn't know the speed limit so I was driving kind of slowly. if I hadn't have done one of those things I would have made it over before the lights started flashing but nooo
  
  (I feel a little bad for the guy behind me because he wouldn't have been stuck there if I had been driving up to speed… as soon as we reached the passing lane on the other side ~~way ahead of all the other cars oop s~~ he took off at like 70mph and was gone within two minutes. sry dude but also Calm Down)

  I think there was some kind of fire in one of the buildings on campus today… I saw a bunch of people crowded around outside of it on my way to one of my classes, and although I thought something might have been up I didn't think much of it. Then when I was heading back after my class, there were tons of fire trucks and police tape outside, and they even had the hoses out and everything.

  Today I worked on an assignment that I ended up having to skip one class and most of the one that it was due for. Pretty sure I did shitty on it. Also, there was a schedule power outage at my dorm, so I had to cradle my printer and laptop down the elevator (one of them still working) to the closest university building to print the stupid thing, then take it back up to go back don to class. Mine looked so terrible to everyone else's. I'm just glad it's behind me now.
  
  Meanwhile, after classes the power was still out, so I hung up some of my posters I never got around to doing before. Then I went grocery shopping with my roommate to buy enough that I shouldn't have to except for milk for the next month.

  Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that :c. Seeing that is always a hard thing to do, even when the animal is not strictly yours. My sympathies.

  today i was Gay and went with my gf to her family's house… met the Dad… played tales of graces with her and her sister… ate homemade pho for the first time (it was actually rly good, idk what it was exactly that i ate, it was broth and noodles and beef strips and carrots. and tofu. which i didn't really care for… weird texture…)… played whoonu (meanwhile gf knows me pretty well, her family doesn't, i don't know her family, so that was a mess… a fun one)… played mexican train (which was fun too, hard to learn all the rules but fun. i never won. but overall I LOST. one round i lost because i had 105 POINTS WHAT THE HECK!!!!!)
  we ended up staying there for like. ten hours. it was originally going to be less than 6 because her sister was going to go to her homecoming dance, but she was slightly sick so she decided not to go. (obviously me n egg gf and family were a better choice anyway)
  
  it was a Fun Time, i'm glad her family likes me
  
  for some reason mo/molly is very feminine-looking, hence the double name. he is beautiful. it looks like he's smiling!!

  Yesterday was really busy, but great.
  Went to a nearby city to get a refund on my tickets and get some new tickets as well as some reservations to get in early, but when I went to get the new tickets they were out of the paper they use to print them on. Managed to get the reservations though – actually got the last one for one of them.
  Went out bowling and managed to win both games.
  Went to dinner and stuffed myself silly. It was so good!
  Then had cake and presents.
  
  Today, I had my archery class. We got to use recurve bows instead of the compound ones. I actually like the recurve ones better and found them easier to aim with. I then went back up the place to get the tickets, so definitely going to that concert as well. Now I'm just gonna relax and do some laundry.

  I tend to be a picky eater on the spicy food category. There is certain colours of sauces I don't eat and if I don't know what the sauce is I'm wary of it. This might be due to my dad, who is so picky that he literally can't be in certain restaurants that have this stuff becasue the smell gets to him so I grew up with more “blander” food.
  
  Yesterday I was woke up at 5pm in the afternoon after going to bed at 8:30am that day because of I trip to a nearby city and didn't want to get a hotel. Went to bed at 7:30 this morning to wake up again at 11:30 (my sleeping schedule is so messed up) so I didn't end up going to fabricland. Other than that, went to classes and went home. I also might of accidentally ignored someone when they were talking to me because I had my headphones in and was texting someone.

  adding “intense fog” to the list of adverse weather conditions I've driven long distances in… I don't mind fog overall (actually really like it if it's not in the way), but when you can't see the road signs until you're passing them and the cars right in front of you are the only ones that exist anymore, I start to get a little anxious

  oof, that's tough stuff. situations like that make me feel sooo awkwars because i've been on both sides Dx i was seriously deeply indoctrinated my whole childhood, and definitely got a bit religious monologue-y on friends when i was 14-15
  stopped being religious when i was 16, like a year later realized what a jerk i probably sounded like to most my friends
  
  so like, totally fine if you feel like you need to cut them out of your life, but also remember that maaybe your friend has only really encountered nonreligious people who they feel close to a few times in their life.. and if they're that into their religion they probably hear about a) how terrible nonreligious (or other religion) sinners are or b) how all nonchristians are going to suffer forever when they die pretty regularily in their life… your friend might be legitimately concerned for your immortal soul and not sure how to deal with the knowledge that you are entirely unconcerned with a terror that has been talked to them as if it's a real, extremely present concern their whole lives (speaking from experience, that's how i felt about my non-christian friends at that age)

I got yelled at online twice (once was yesterday) by group members (it's a long story; I had to clear misunderstandings all the way around, and act ask the patient kind on everyone to have them calm down, and one girl is still likely pissed at me. I could go on and on about this damn thing) it seems like my printer died while I was trying to print something (taking away little time I did have to study), and I found out someone I have known for over a decade has passed away. We weren't really close or anything, but still, it affects me.

  laughed hysterically at my friend's story in which she screamed the entire time she was doing her portfolio review but did it out loud and not in her head apparently
  used the last of my flex bucks to buy sushi, pita bread and hummus, and a hot chocolate for me and a sandwich, mocha frappe, and chocolate cake for my friend
  we then went to her place and ended up lying on the floor because of that one part of Undertale
  ran to michaels to grab some knitting needles and yarn
  shared a moment of discordant yelling between the four of us
  and then went to fuddrucker's where we brought in one of the skeins and accidentally got it very tangled and then very slowly got it into two manageable lumps of yarn, skewered down the middles so that they are together
  and then I got dropped off back at my dorm where I'm awaiting a hall meeting such that I can know what all is required to go home tomorrow

  regardless though, today was super boring. I spent my day working on a report (that was due yesterday whoops. He seems to be my go to for things to watch right now, even though I should be watching anime instead.

  We had our Christmas party at work and we do the gift exchange thing. I grabbed the gift I got first, but that was instantly stolen (though someone stole it from her next), and I ended up with some scratchcards (won $3!) and some fancy hot chocolate mix and a really nice mug.
  I stuffed myself with mac & cheese and pepperoni bread. Also had a muffin and grabbed some stuffs for later. It's so good!

  took my good, expensive headphones off in somewhat of a hurry, and one of the hinges snapped… so now I'm holding the ear on with a rubber band to keep the wire inside from breaking, but I can't wear them I really don't want to have to replace these (especially after having to buy new cords for them twice) but I'm not sure they can be fixed…
  
  I do have plenty of earbuds so I can still listen to things but it's really not the same, I need the noise cancellation you get from big headphones
  
  also the entire house just shook?? everyone else thought it felt like a big gust of wind or something, because it felt too short for an earthquake, but it hasn't been windy at all today…

  I was trying to figure out what kissing was like today, and that is an accurate description of what I would do in that situation. It sounds like the experience would be awkward/annoying otherwise. Well, any experience with kissing sounds weird, but having a tongue down your throat sounds the weirdest.

  Took a couple hour drive yesterday and hung out with my friend and her husband. We went out that night and the place we went to was playing a bunch of 90s pop songs so everyone in there was dancing and singing along. Super fun!
  
  The three of us went out to breakfast/brunch today and then her husband had to go to work so my friend and I went a park and walked around for awhile before I headed back to my place.

  let me sum up my recent five million hours
  uh. apparently this post is going way too much into detail so watch out.
  
  sunday afternoon: left home to go stay with gf before going to the airport the next day. left a little too late and it was going to be awkward because i would get there when she was at a wedding, but her mom wouldn't take her to the wedding because it was snowing and roads are icy, so gf was there when i got there!!
  so, stayed with gf, finished organizing/packing my stuff, played tales of graces a bit, trekked across the snowy campus (ok it was like… a quarter of an inch… pathetic. the ice was worse) to the market, bought some gum and cough drops (i mean jolly ranchers) and a frozen pizza. ate the frozen pizza. did one of my favorite activities with the gf (TOOK A NAP!! twice), then gf mom picked us up and took us to the airport, where they left me……. all alone…
  since i got there at 6 and no one else was getting there til ~9 (our flight was at 11:15…), i checked in alone, made it through security alone, found my gate alone, sat there for a bit, then i walked across half the airport to find a mcdonalds. keep in mind i had no one to leave my stuff with so i had to carry it all with me…….. and i got pancakes and sausage and orange juice. went back to the gate, sat near the outlets this time, and ate my food and played asteria and got on the computer and Did stuff
  
  My God
  so my group arrives, we wait a bit til the plane gets there, we get on the plane. we sit on the plane. and we sit on the plane. we sit on the plane for more than five hours and 40 minutes. overnight. it was awful because it is impossible to sleep on planes, unless you can sleep sitting up. my classmate next to me threw up. the girl on the other side of me was probably judging me hardcore. i did catch some catnaps here and there but long flights EXHAUST you and when they're the middle of the night it's worse because you don't know what to eat. (i ate smores goldfish. they were really good. and i played solitaire while doing so)
  
  anyway, once THAT nightmare was over, we got off in miami, skedaddled on over to the next gate… where we waited for 2+ hours. and then we waited some more because the plane was late, and the crew took forever to go through customs/immigration (?? why would the crew.. i guess i have no idea where it came from), so we didn't even get to board until after we were supposed to take off
  that plane was smaller, 2×2 instead of 3×3. i sat next to a sharp-lookin guy in a suit and a briefcase. he and i both slept the whole time, or tried to. that flight was almost four hours, but it was way better because i was next to the window so i had something to lean against so i COULD SLEEP…
  also holy crap my ears were terrifying me on that flight? they were pretty messed up after the first one (super plugged, could not pop, the descent was actually literally painful instead of just uncomfortable), but on this one the feeling was way worse, and i could barely hear people talking through all the muted ringing. i couldn't tell if the voices i was hearing were actual people or somone watching tv and their headphones were too loud. it was kind of unreal and scary :'(
  
  anyway
  
  we arrived at fort-de-france airport, and it was hot, humid, and way quieter and smaller than i imagined. like. way smaller. and quieter. got our bags okay (last time their luggage was lost for four days……. lol…) and then went out… to meet… our new families
  we were all DEAD tired and could not understand words or speak and the accent was shocking and that first encounter was a mess. my host aunt (i'm way too intimidated by her to feel comfortable with the word “mom” it's too weird wtf), her car apparently had a problem? so we took the taxi back to her apartment… it was awkward because when i got in, i couldn't get the seatbelt out (it must have locked in place… and would NOT come out), so i just kind of wrapped it around my close shoulder, since neither the driver nor my host aunt put their seatbelts on… but then after some moments of driving, they both did, and we were moving and i couldn't get my seatbelt on!!!! and the longer i waited the more awkward it would be to slide over to the other seat, and i couldn't Words, so ijust. did not wear my seatbelt. safe way to start a trip right
  
  got to the apartment… host aunt showed me around… gave me keys… i was very intimidatd by everything. also one of the first things she did was give me the wifi password!!!!!! and turn on the air conditioner!!!! bless her. so she left me alone a bit to contact home and get my chargers set up (thank goodness i had one big adapter for my three-prong computer cord, and another little one for my phone charger… though there's no outlet near my bed so i'm charging my phone overnight through my computer's usb, since my computer cord will barely reach the bed), and i unpacked everything and generally Recovered from the worst of my travel-induced mind fog
  and i met her niece, who apparently lives here too, or maybe is just staying here for school? i d k. i learned today that she's 19, and she's pretty nice!!! very very quiet, too, though i had kind of a hard time understanding her today :')…
  then we had dinner. which was an Experience. we had some kind of… fish salad… with carrots, salmon, lettuce, slices of.. some kind of fruit… it wasn't my fav but i ate it. and it was probably good for me. and it didn't make me throw up, so. that's good!! i do want to try a bunch of foods while i'm here… my medication has made me way more adventurous about that stuff, provided i know there's something else nearby i can eat in case something goes wrong
  and for dessert we had flan
  
  so we had dinner, and i actually mostly managed to keep up the conversation, which was a drastic improvement from earlier…… we talked about what i'd eat for breakfast, and what time in the morning things would happen. except i badly misunderstood and thought she said we'd eat breakfast together at 8:30? and i needed to be at school by 9. keep that in mind
  
  then they suddenly retreated to their rooms for the night (the light in my room wasn't on so when they turned the living room light off i was plunged into darkness), and i desperately wanted to shower, so i tried to go figure that out by myself without asking… it certainly wasn't ideal.. the showerhead didn't attach to the wall so i had to constantly hold it, which makes it REALLY hard to wash my hair with only one hand, the water wouldn't get warm (having it so cool was kind of refreshing though i guess) and the pressure wasn't all that great, so it wasn't. really that great of a shower. i was hoping it might help clear my ears but it didn't at all. also i didn't bring a bath towel so i only had my smaller, thinner beach towel, and a little one that she left in my room, BUT it's so warm here drying off wasn't hard :S and the humidity is like… you could hardly tell i was wet in the first place
  so i braided my hair and then stayed up too late on the computer, kept forgetting things outside my tent and having to go out and get them and make sure the mosquito net was back in place, blah blah… fun times
  
  i woke up rather often during the night, but it wasn't so bad. i should sleep a lot better tonight!!
  
  so. this morning. my alarm went off at 8, i pattered around my room for a bit trying to wake up and get ready, stressed about what to wear because i didn't know how anyone else would be dressed, i didn't know what we were going to do that day so i stresed about what to take with me (i overpacked, as usual), and then at 8:20 host aunt knocked on my door like. we're leaving in ten minutes. you didn't eat breakfast? do you want breakfast??
  so i ran to the bathroom, tried to eat a banana really quickly, completely misunderstood all the morning breakfast routine god i felt like SUCH an idiot, she took the ham she put out for me and sliced the bread and put the ham in the bread and wrapped it in foil, and i drank a bowl of cooled hot chocolate super fast, and took my stuff and left. she commented on how much stuff i had, i felt self-conscious, then i realized i forgot my hat and my sunglasses, so i had to go back and get them, panicked when i couldn't find my sunglasses, then realized they were in my bag already… got in the car… dropped my banana on my bag, way to go loser…
  then she dropped me off by the university and i was THIS || close to crying. my eyes watered up and my nose dripped but i didn't completely cry. but. she just made me feel really stupid?? it was awful i was upset
  then a classmate walked up (i guess she lives close enough she gets to walk. no fair!!), offered me some water from her huge bottle (praise her), and i ate my ham baguette and we talked some stuff out. it was my first communication with someone outside the host family in like, 15 hours.
  
  we waited a bit, then my professor came down the stairs and found us and took us all up to the library, where i found out about a Bad Host Family Situation (elaborated later). we went on a tour of the library and stuff, then professor said she forgot our bus tickets and a classmate needed cough medicine so professor, sick classmate, other classmate and i got in professor's car, drove to her place, got the Stuff, then went to a pharmacie and a market to get all our phones set up
  and the phones… took… forever. we left the school at 10 and we didn't get back there until almost noon. other two classmates were probably ?!??!!? at where we went
  there's still a problem with the phones, mine needs to be refilled in SIX days, others in fifteen days, etc…
  so. then we went back to the school, where we waited for the bus to go au centre-ville!! it… took forever. i was playing with my new phone and accidentally turned the radio on and it was loud and terrifying. LOUD STATIC NOISES
  took bus to DownTown where we wandered around, found lunch (we stopped at a supermarket where we bought Lunch Pieces separately and combined forces to make something nice (except professor actually paid for it all to make it go faster… love her…)
  so we sat on a bench and ate bananas and pieces of mandarines martiniquais, baguettes with babybel cheese and slices of ham, and i got an orange juice that was carbonated, which surprised me…
  and it was good!! not the best but quite tolerable. it stops that itch in my throat while water doesn't, so, that's the important part
  
  uh. then we just… walked around some more.. we went to a little bookstore that we had passed earlier so the classmates who were missing the book we need to read could look for it (professor forgot hers too omg…), and i looked around for french warriors books, but i couldn't find any it wasn't the biggest bookstore in the world, so, unsurprising i suppose
  
  we also went to la Bibliotheque Schoelcher and looked in there and learned a bit about it, and a museum for Joseph Zobel (important martiniquais author. wrote the book we need to read). there was a teeny tiny lizard in that museum. i took pictures of it
  
  uhhhh quoi d'autre… we got caught in a lot of sudden rainfalls. it's very on and off throughout the day and when it rains it POURS, except the first couple times it was light and i was like! ah! refreshing! but then after that… nope
  we went and looked at a big cruiseship (well, from the dock) and made fun of it because apparently our school also has j-term study abroad classes that take place ON A CRUISESHIP and like. what. why is that a class. that is garbage (and not in a We're Jealous Of This Class way, in a Wow that's actually a really terrible idea what the hell. kind of way). also the president of the university teaches one of them?!?!?!
  then we walked along the docks to a beach and i took pictures of birds and, while i was taking a picture of a particularly cool bird, APPARENTLY two girls holding hands walked past… my professor told me!! (once she found out about my girlfriend she's like ! at me lmao) and i didn't see them… because i was taking a picture of a bird…
  kind of for moss, but for everyone. wow. cool bird
  
  um what else…. my host did not find us where we were supposed to be picked up, so we waited 20 minutes and she still didn't show up (i actually DID see her drive past, i decided, but i couldn't tell it WAS her, and i wouldn't have been able to recognize her car, and i did suggest to professor that we go check the parking lot at the other end of the docks but she said no, she wouldn't go that far since she knows to pick us up here……) so. i went with professor and the girl she had to drop off herself, we took the bus back to the university, got professor's car, dropped off other classmate, and then professor came with me to my apartment to explain what happened! host lady got us drinks (jus du mangue, refreshing) and professor, host aunt, me, and host niece sat down for a while and talked… mostly Adults talked while Children sat and listened, u know, but. cool
  
  professor also called the organizer of these host family things to complain about… here it is, the story of the Bad Host Family
  APPARENTLY the university of a state that doesn't really exist (delaware… delaware) also does a month-long exchange to martinique. except. there is NO minimum requirement for french speaking or comprehension. that's Issue Number 1, mostly because it pisses us all off that these 24 students are getting a month-long vacation and they clearly aren't even TRYING to actually care about anything. they're just tourists. Leave
  Issue Number 2. two of our hosts are related (i don't remember what they said… one is an aunt??), and so they share resources. which, in this case, includes student housing. two of our students were supposed to stay with one lady, and one student was supposed to stay with the other lady, but THREE of them are in one room… with TWO other girls from the delaware group. two of our students have to share a bed which is against university policies, btw, so. it's like. Uh. No?
  and so the student who was supposed to stay with the other lady learned that she wasn't going to actually stay with her because she's housing two guys, and “haha, be glad you don't have to share a room with the boys “
  uh, no. we're all supposed to have our own rooms and our own beds
  
  these two people are housing seven students. they're making almost, professor said, $5000 hosting students. they didn't tell our organizer that they were hosting other students, and those other students didn't know that they'd have more coming until the morning we arrived, and like………. this. this is totally scamming the system!!!!! what the hell!!!??
  
  so yeah professor is pissed at housing, we're all frustrated at stupid non-french-speaking students faking immersion (one girl, she was nice, but. okay we ran into them at the museum, for context. one girl came down to use the bathroom and professor started talking to her but she was like “i speak english… do you speak english?” not even in french, in english???
  classmates were saying the delaware students didn't even know enough french to say they can't understand french…
  i just… How.
  
  anyway my host mom made us chicken nuggets and french fries for dinner lmao. we're still talking about things i can eat so!
  oh yeah she also showed me where to go to the bus tomorrow… it's a much longer walk than i would have thought? i have to do it by myself so 😡 hope i don't die. she won't be here at all in the morning so i need to wake myself up at 7 (uhh that's in seven hours and i haven't done my homework yet!!!!), eat breakfast, and get to the bus stop by 8 so i have an hour to get to the university… which is… only a ten minute bus ride away but. i need time. in case i mess up
  
  and that's just two days, my Goshness, help
  
  here's the finale… the. the most important thing.
  this morning i saw a cat. mostly white (a dirty white) with some van-ish markings, i think.
  when i came back this evening… i saw the same cat.
  and my professor pointed out another cat. black and white and perched in a window.
  and when i walked with my host parent to the bus stop. i saw the first cat and another cat. fluffy and orange.
  and on the way back i saw those two cats again, and what may or may have not been the same window cat earlier (it was in the same place but i wasn't sure about the colors)

  Well, today was a terrible day from the get-go.
  
  I woke up at 9:30 to my boss calling me that I was supposed to open the store (I'm a supervisor at a store). Apparently, she changed my schedule so that I was meant to open up. We open officially at 9:30, so naturally I panicked when I was told this. Having no transportation or any way of getting there, I told her that I couldn't come. Now she has to write me up for not coming and I feel awful. Today sucked so far and it's only 13:16. I hate today. Hnnnnghh. Lots of stress going on today. I wish I had known I was working this morning, but no one told me, so I had no idea and thought I could sleep in :C

  Today I went downhill skiing for the first time in 10 years (and I've only done it twice before.) A lot more difficult than I remember, but I only fell once, the first time down the hill. Came away with a really nasty bruise from the tow rope, though. It was also VERY MARIGOLD COLD, at -5F (-21C) with a windchill of -20F (-29C); a definite change from our very mild winter so far. I had a lot of fun, though.

  Three out of the four Warriors books I ordered have arrived. The first one to come was Midnight, which came last week. Bluestar's Prophecy (the book that for some reason is not available in any of the three closest libraries to me) and the German translation of The Sight (which I can't wait to read) came today . I hope that last one comes soon.

  I went to my new classes for this semester, and my Sociology teacher is super passionate about the subject, so I know this is gonna be fun. My 20th Century U.S. History teacher is also pretty into the subject as well, and seems to have a kind of sarcastic personality, and is very Italian-Chicagoan. So this semester seems like it's gonna be a lot of fun!!

  started off the day poorly by sleeping through my first lab for my brain/behavior class but I'm still (mostly) on the high-spirits track i stumbled on yesterday. i'm still super jittery, but i'm feeling a lot less impulsive.
  
  actually i just realized that i never updated y'all on yesterday in my rush to get stuff done
  
  at like 4pm yesterday i got an email from facebook inviting me to a networking event with them at my university. i was freaking out about it and got inspired to finish updating my resume once i got home, which i did! and then i did the dishes. and took out the trash. and did the reading for my lab (that i ended up missing anyways). and got the pdf's for most of my textbooks. and bought groceries. and cleaned the kitchen. and worked on my warriors fic. and reconnected with an old friend over skype. and then i spent an hour making a ton of crepes for myself and my roommate. they were delicious
  
  anyways today i updated my computer's OS and it's running much faster now! Or at least, Chrome is. My computer is hopelessly slow so I'm hoping this will help things run a bit faster. i got a lot more work done on my fic and i'm going to try to actually upload my resume for the networking thing before i go to bed.

  I feel kind of bad, because I said I wasn't available to help fix the furnace tonight but offered to help tomorrow and the day after, but I was told they were trying to get it done tonight.
  
  I have an assignment due tomorrow, and I only just finished it, so I guess I wouldn't have been able to help out without having to stay up late… but I still feel guilty about it. I want to be helpful, especially since this is something that involves me.

  I was hoping to find Shadows of the Clans, since I really like the stories in there, but we didn't find it, so I got these two Dawn of the Clans books instead (which is still great, since I didn't have any of the arc before today).

  Had a fun weekend with my boyfriend; we took a small road trip.
  
  First we went to a ramen restaurant (there's nothing like that here) and had actual real ramen for the first time, which was absolutely delicious and it's been a long time since a food's made me quite that happy (and that's saying something). I had a lychee saketini with it, which was equally delicious.
  
  After that we went to a concert – The High Kings – a Celtic music group that we're both fans of. It was an excellent live show, and we got to meet the band afterward.

  Today was pretty shit, because I had two midterms and I did pretty badly on both of them. I had no idea what to expect, and I was really bad at studying for them…
  
  Well, I guess the first one might have went okay. I struggled a lot, but I eventually mostly answered most of the questions… the other one was an unmitigated disaster though. I didn't understand half of the questions, and the material is so unbelievably boring that I can't be bothered to figure out what any of it was about. I literally guessed for at least 75% of the questions. I just… hate this course so much.
  
  On the bright side, I got an extension on the first draft of my thesis. That should make things a bit easier from here on out.

  YOOOOOOOOO THEY WERE IMPLYING WHAT I THOUGHT THEY WERE IMPLYING. I had my fingers crossed for a confirmation eventually, but I wasn't expecting literally the very next day. I was genuinely giddy when I read it.
  
  FC and SC are also on sale on Steam, so I grabbed SC ASAP. I'll start playing once school slows down a bit, and then I'll be ready for The 3rd in 2017.
  
  Also, it turns out I actually did alright on my cosmology midterm (the prof is a machine and got them all marked already), and I actually got a lot of work done today as well. My parents are also stopping by tomorrow morning on their way to the States for March Break, and we're going to have breakfast together. Things are looking really good going in to the weekend.

  The river has flooded 13 feet higher than normal. Fortunately it shouldn't rise too much higher at this point; it's supposed to peak in the morning and then recede.
